The Beginning
WhyNotEgypt was launched in December 2017 by me; Passainte Assem, one of Egypt’s first travel bloggers, alongside Christina Wichert, an American Cairo-based adventurer who loves diving, hiking, and exploring Egypt. When Christina moved back to the US, I decided to continue the journey on my own, with the support of trusted travel partners.
Since then, my work has been featured by notable media outlets, including Conde Nast Traveller (“Discovering The Food Of Pharaohs On A Tour Of Old Cairo“), The New York Times (“Egyptology Is Having A Big Moment. But Will Tourists Come?“), Scoop Empire (“East Meets West As This Travel Duo Tackle Egypt’s Tourism In The Coolest Way“), and I’ve shared my insights on Radio Hits 88.2 with Dr. Khaled Habib. These opportunities have allowed me to connect with travelers and share my passion for Egypt’s culture and history.

Who I Am
I’m Passainte, a Cairo native, traveler to 33 countries — and counting — backpacker, and avid hiker. My passion for travel, love for Egypt, and curiosity for discovering new places inspired me to become a Travel Consultant, helping travelers fall in love with Egypt beyond the pyramids.
I genuinely enjoy scouting Egypt’s hidden corners, mapping out discoveries, and sharing the rich culture of my people and my hometown. Every itinerary I create combines curiosity, hands-on experience, and a deep commitment to helping travelers connect with Egypt in a meaningful way.
WhyNotEgypt Today
WhyNotEgypt isn’t just about planning trips — it’s about sharing the joy of discovery and helping travelers explore Egypt in a personal, authentic, and memorable way. It reflects my journey, my love for this country, and my commitment to helping others experience it beyond the surface.
As I recently began studying tour guidance, my work has become even more meaningful. Now, when I recommend a place, I don’t just love it — I understand its history, context, and significance. That depth of knowledge makes every itinerary more intentional, more educational, and ultimately more enriching.
